I have decided to join the Leadership Council of God’s Love We Deliver – a very worthy charity that feeds people who are not able to feed themselves. Whether they have AIDS, cancer or are just old or sick, the volunteers at God’s Love goes to their homes to give them food and keep them company – as the name implies, it’s all about delivering God’s love to those who need it.
I’ve always contributed and now that I’ve joined the Leadership Council, I’m looking to get other people as enthusiastic and involved with this good cause as I’ve been for a long time. I have a couple of ideas that could be good ways of raising funds and awareness – do you have any great fundraising ideas that I can use?

Hi Vicente,
I find these times particularly challenging for non-profits because people are much more concerned about themselves and give little thought to those who have much less. That said, I think it is important to remind most people that they are, in fact, better off. Anyone who has a rare talent, such as your photography or design brilliance, could offer their time and talent for a worthy cause. Since they are rare talents, they will always get a hefty price.
Since I don’t have the talent, I am happy to donate my modest funds whenever I can. It is the least anybody could do…

Hi Vicente,
One idea that I have used very successfully at a non-profit
that I am involved with is the idea of a Matching Grant – ie
a Board member challenges the fundraising by offering to match
dollar for dollar the amount raised up to a certain amount
(we used $100,000). People seem to like the idea of their dollars going further and it puts a time frame around when donations will be matched, which helps to get money in for
a certain project or whatever. Kudos to you for all you do,
you are a great inspiration on so many levels.

This is a great cause. I am so pleased you have joined them. As long as you are enthusiastic, eager and willing then people will love that and want to be part of it and, hopefully, contribute. Keep blogging about it and let us know how to give.
