Some gorgeous designs here. Amsterdam is one of many amazing cities that I haven't been able to visit, and would love to purely for the architecture of the buildings. The use of gold on the windows and doors really gives a classy touch. Were these taken in the centre of the town? Or is the architecture of the city similar throughout?

What lovely transoms ( I don't know if you call windows over doors that do not open transoms, do you?) Well, whatever you call them we don't see enough of them being installed in new homes these days and it's a shame.

Just saw "Cohorts" question in comment # 9 and wanted to tell him/her that Fine Paints of Europe sells the enamel paint that the Dutch typically use for their front door.

My two favorite places to photograph windows and doors, for their wonderful uniqueness is Montreal and anywhere in France! I have a lot of photos of both for inspiration.

These doors/transoms are wonderful, shameless showoffs. The buildings absorb each one. Are there any bad ones? (I'm sure now cats were harmed in the pictures.)

Hi Vicente.

You have been my design inspiration for as long as I can remember. So wonderful to discover your blog and have a real dialogue.

Your front door post is timely. (Love Amsterdam architecture!) Just now finalizing entry door/front porch details and colors for THE CONCORD GREEN HOME, a new construction, eco-friendly farmhouse set in historic Concord, MA. Trying to honor the local vernacular, but also bring in a bit of light and "loft minimalism" to the space... trying to decide between painted black vs. a "stripped pine" look for the front door. Hmmm... these photos have me leaning the classic paint direction.

Thank you for sharing.
