Our Saving Grace

Over the weekend I had guests for dinner. The husband, a very successful and accomplished, businessman whose career has been in existence for many, many years. Part of the conversation over dinner was about how difficult times are for him at this moment. I was taken aback because he is somebody who has always been very successful and very financially secure. It gave me the opportunity to commiserate with him.

And then I stopped to think about all the people out there who are without jobs, without insurance and in their 50’s and 60’s  who have no money saved, no prospect of careers at the moment and although I feel that things are starting to begin to turn around (though slowly), I wonder how long before these people will get some relief. So if you are out there, not having much work, having bills still coming in and not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel, it’s not just you…it’s me, it’s everybody in this country at one level or another feeling it.

The saving grace is though as much as we all argue about that things are not the way they were before, we’re still in a country where individuals can make a difference and where hard work and determination still can pay off. And we have the freedom to express how we feel.  And that is something not to forget.

Thanks for supporting and sharing. Every day I say an affirmation that I bend and sway with ups and downs knowing my efforts are well intended and will find the right audience.

so true and we all feel the “crunch” in some way or another. On the upside- it makes us all a little more creative…a little more aware of what’s important and how we can cherish what we do have.

    thanks for this post.
isn’t it incredibly refreshing to talk with people who are honest? your dinner guest could have gone the whole evening and not said a word about his tough times and you would have never suspected it. but because of his honesty, i’m sure a great conversation ensued.
i tell myself everyday, “the future is friendly”.
