I have been anxiously waiting for this to come out! I am very pleased with how AD was able to take pieces from my travel journal and photos to create this great column. Reading it was like revisiting Mali all over again.
Thank you Margaret Russell & team, it looks incredible!

Got AD yesterday and enjoyed your journaling on your travel to Mali. It appears this will be a regular column? How wonderful for AD’s readers to see the world through your designer’s eye–great concept! What a fun project for you and them to collaborate on….

What a lovely piece of nostalgia for me! 27 years ago I visited 17 countries in Africa on a months-long camping trip. Mali was my favorite—no contest. Djenne,Timbuktu, Mopti, Bourem, the Niger, the markets, and especially the people. All so familiar in your piece, even the passing parade. I loved it all, and you have re-created it for me. Thank you.
