Lonny Magazine just released their August/September 2010 issue and I’m so proud to have my Montauk house featured in the issue. I think the layout it great and they took some beautiful images. Be sure to read the magazine from cover to cover – I think it’s so great!

I saw it this morning and you must be doing your job because I recognized it as your work even before I saw your name! Congratulations!

Pouring my cup of coffee now to sit down and read this issue cover to cover. I was already excited to see my young and talented friend, Callie Jenschke, of Scout Designs NYC on the cover! Congrats to you too!!

A new design magazine is always exciting. I like the on-line format, the zoom in and out feature, and the fact I don’t have to store it on my bookshelves since it is archived. I hope they save all their issues that way in perpetuity. Their article on your Montauk home was the most comprehensive that I’ve ever seen, which allows us to see how you’ve integrated your collections and a bit of color into your spare white space. I had never noticed that your photo collection is all about the sea and swimmers! That attention to detail will help boost their readership. And the exterior photos are so helpful in
completing the full picture! Why has no publication done that before? Congratulations to you both! – Gary
PS I couldn’t find or figure out anything on the acronym “Lonny” except for the obvious “ny” part.

Hey Gary – Lonny is an acronym for London and New York, the hometowns of the two founders, Patrick Cline ( London) and Michelle Adams ( New York).
Below is a link to an article in the NY times about Lonny – I think it’s filling a great gap in the market.

Vicente – London and New York. Of course! I like the international connection. “Hands across the water (water), hands across the sky.”
The photography is fresh and the writing concise. I like the fashion article as a diverse design topic. I know a magazine or two has tried that, like Wallpaper, but their photography doesn’t fully support their writing. I’ll subscribe to Lonny and my wife will be thrilled that I’m not starting another stack of magazines around the house! Thanks for the introduction! – Gary
PS Melissa – I added a comment to your question about the Hans Wegner chairs last week.

Vicente – how cool is It that your work appears in the venerable NY Times and on Lonny in the same week? You could SO easily be resting on your laurels but instead, you are still asking questions and remaining open to it all which is one reason why your interiors are so relevent and alive. Long may you reign:) Hats off also to my friend, the gorgeous Callie J who is beaming on Lonny’s cover. She came to NY to follow a dream and she’s making it happen! Love to all, Linda

It was so nice seeing my beach house in Lonny. Seeing an online magazine do their thing with a space that I know so well was so enlightening. The generosity of space on a website to show as many pictures as they wanted really is a big competitor to magazine publications where every editorial page must be matched by an advertising page. In Lonny they could show as many as they wanted to get the point of their story across. It’s an interesting emerging trend and I’m so excited to be able to be a part of it!

Linda, you are too kind. For those who don’t know, Linda is one of the people who were responsible for putting together Met Home. She now works with Monacelli Press (the publishers of my books).
I think that we all need to do what is necessary to make ourselves visible and viable during these times.
