Dinner

I don’t want you thinking I’m writing this to name-drop, but on Sunday I had dinner with Margaret Russell of Elle Décor.

Out of context, one always thinks of these Editor-in-Chiefs as being very highfalutin and unreachable, but each time I get together with Margaret, I’m inspired to work harder and become more committed to the work that I do.

Her respect for designers and the work that we do is so evident and such a support for the industry. Anybody who works seven days a week to produce the best possible product truly deserves the admiration and support of the reading public.

Well said – Margaret is one of those people that you wish you could sit down & have a glass of wine with & have a chat. She is incredible. No worries about name-dropping. I would do the same if I were to be in the company of either of you!

Speaking only for myself here – but I have to say it: please stop apologizing for your life! You’ve worked hard to get where you are and deserve every good thing that comes your way.

Besides – that’s a huge part of the pleasure of reading your blog ;if you talked about going to the Piggly Wiggly and grabbing the special on laundry detergent – well, that’s already my life, Vicente; I look to you and your blog and books, etc, to take me OUT of that, with charm and grace.

So keep doing what you’re doing, okay?

    Thank you. Carry on! :-)
