Vicente,
I have long admired your work and am happy to hear you present they way I like to....having finish boards that are too definitive can make the client fell left out of the process. I like to give them the experience of touching the materials and perhaps choosing between a couple of options on the fly. Then I'll often make them a job folder with swatches and images to keep, so they have something concrete to keep at the end of the meeting. Finish boards come later in the process.

I remember that you posted her website and songs last year. She seems to be growing and adding new depth to her repertoire and style as she goes along. I think there is no combination quite so compelling as a good voice, a good guitar and some good songs. - Gary

I have to say that the more seasoned professionals I've met (my business is three years old now) have been the most kind, helpful mentors I've ever met. Gracious is the only word I can think of. I've heard that other designers have been stingy with information, but I haven't seen that yet. You are one of them, Vicente, by what you share on this blog. And I'm so, so grateful to those that have mentored me. What blessings they've been......I will do the same when I (hopefully) become the "experienced" one.

There's some irony in the question for me! Witholding information was not a natural practice so it took some time and work to learn that it's a good thing in business. The idea of sharing information with clients and competitors was scarey.
But moving to real transparency changed just about everything. Nothing to do but focus on people and purpose....

I totally agree with you Vicente Wolf... when you say “I think the more honest we are with our fellow designers and with our clients, the more successful our industry will be."

I totally believe that we should help each other... and share our success and failed with our fellows, and learn from each other. Who else we can learn from? I believe that each designer has their own projects and clients, and the other way around. There is always the right client/project for the right designer (most cases). And there is room for everybody. Besides, young designers like me are craving to learn... and to do the right thing! The professionals that have been in the industry longer could be more generous and help us out!
I want transparency and honesty to be my rule!

Thanks Vicente for starting this conversation!
