SFERRA Celebrates 120th Anniversary ‘In Bed With’ Designers

Last night Savoir Beds and SFERRA hosted “In Bed” With Malcolm James Kutner, Amanda Nizbet, Rob Passal, Susanna Salk and myself. I participated in creating a bed setting to celebrate the brand. They had done a series of interviews “In Bed With…” and I had the pleasure of getting into bed with Ronda Carman who authors the “All the Best” blog. You can see the video in my previous post about “In Bed”. It was a fun evening, really good hors d’oeuvres, especially their fried macaroni and cheese bites (fried is always good). A good time was had by all!

On CNN en Espanol with Preston Bailey

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting another segment with CNNE this time with my dearest friend Preston Bailey. We shot this segment in his NYC studio, he and his team had set up an amazing presentation for his clients who flew in from South Africa! Preston has such an immense talent and this presentation was spectacular especially with all the color!

Kips Bay Show House

So I haven’t been able to post anything about Kips Bay until the NY Times story broke. We were lucky enough to get the living room in this beautiful townhouse on the Upper East Side that is listed for $28.8 million. As you can see from the before video it was a very paneled traditional room. Our aim was to bring in light and give a modern sense to it. We were not allowed to touch the walls, floors or ceiling which in the end made our job easier. Our installation started at 10am and we were out by 3pm.

I encourage everyone that can make it to go see the all the room in the Show House and support the Boys & Girls Club.

Inception

Last weekend I went to see Inception – I was prewarned that I could not blink or get distracted by the popcorn, that I had to follow the plot very carefully and I was able to decypher the whole movie. I thought the special effects were really amazing and I was surpised that some people felt like they had to see it twice to really understand what it was all about. I loved it – action, great plot and a fast pace.

Today I am dying to go see Stallone’s new movie. Yes! I want to see the ravaging effects of too much plastic surgery and too much steroids…But I think, from what others have said, that it’s a fun movie to see. What have you seen lately that is unmissable?

Two special arrivals

In New York on Monday, July 5th, we were honored with two special arrivals.

First was 103 degree temperature, which made the asphalt bubble, the hair frizz and the ladies’ makeup melt. The second was that of the Queen of England looking just…blooming in her housedress with a large-scale floral print and matching hat, white gloves and very sensible shoes. She spoke in front of the United Nations and she was closely watched by Anna Wintour of Vogue for style tips for the next issue.

PS She didn’t sweat. Queen Elizabeth didn’t even glow!

In A Cab!

In the back of the New York cabs they have small TV screens with news, weather and some decorative fluff on. Yesterday I was in a yellow taxi heading downtown and I was talking on my cellphone (such a New Yorker) and as I was talking, out of my peripheral vision I see a shelf with photographs on it. I thought to myself “There it is, someone copying my picture ledges!” until I realized that it was my apartment, with me walking through the space!

The segment had originally been shown on LXTV’s Open House and has now been placed on the cab circuit. So if you’re in New York, be sure to take cabs everywhere and you’re bound to see me in one sooner or later!
