Linda O’Keeffe just released a new book that is all about WHITE. It’s most informative and visually inspirational, and is a must for any designer.

I wanted to thank the folks at Poggenpohl for inviting me to use their showroom for my recent booksigning, they also currently have an array of wonderful new products on display.  We had a great crowd of designers and design lovers and got to discuss traveling and its effect on design and customizing in our industry.  I estimate that we customize about 70% of the items we specify in the projects at our office, this just makes each project much more individual and people can’t say “oh I saw this and that at such and such showroom”.

The book looks great Holly, nice work!

The book takes you through her 50 year career of being Hollywood’s most famous and respected costume designer.  The book includes sketches and images from movies she worked on  as well as images of all the great stars who she designer for; Grace Kelly, Bettie Davis, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor to name a few.  Her career spanned from the late 30’s to the early 80’s, during this time she received more Academy Awards than any other woman in history.  I highly highly recommend this book.

An event of this nature is scary to somebody who doesn’t like crowds and is on the verge of being anti-social.  Being confronted by 250 of my nearest and dearest, clients, design peers, and long time friends made me question whether I hug them all or run out of the room screaming ( which i did not). It was all worth the year and half of working on the book, whether it be shooting it or writing it with Christine Pittel. A very special thanks to everyone at Monacelli Press especially the lovely Andrea.

What an incredible collection of beautiful carpets in the new book, The Decorative Carpet by Alix G. Perrachon. It is a compilation of different designers including David Easton, Juan Montoya, Clodagh and myself.  I highly recommend it as it gives you a range of designers perspective’s on using handmade carpets from around the world as decorative pieces.

Next Wednesday I will be presenting at the WHAT’S NEW WHAT’S NEXT Event put on by The New York Design Center. They will featuring numerous discussions and presentations on every floor and in every showroom.  I am thrilled to be involved in 2 presentations,  one for each of my new books….see below.
