New book – your input requested

This Thursday I’m meeting with Monacelli Press to start the process of compiling my third book. This is the first time in a while that I have a bit of free time on my hands and I’ve been thinking about the exact theme of this new book for a while.

Like my previous two books, I’m trying to give it a different slant and offer readers more than what they can see in a magazine. I want the reader to a) be inspired, b) learn something, c) be entertained and I want to feature my own photography.

One of the thoughts on the content is to have at least one job per chapter that goes from beginning to end, showcasing the requirements from client, the inspiration path and the progress up to completion.

If you all have any thoughts on what you’d love to see, please help me!

I have thoroughly enjoyed your last 2 books and look at them often. I will be first in line to get your new book. Good luck on it.

I, for one, would love to read that book! I own your two previous books as you, Mr. Wolf, were my inspiration for breaking into the field of interior design when i discovered your work in 1997. I think your fans would really appreciate being able to walk alongside you through the entire design process and see first hand how it all comes together. Looking forward to it’s release!

why don’t you write about your personality, and your natural born gift for seeing things the way they should be. let us know what you are about as a person. have you always pushed to be at the top? what is your motivation to constantly be a headliner designer. success like yours does not just come from being talented. i know it takes constant blood, sweat and tears. let’s hear the whole story about your background and the hard part of how you got to where you are now. hoping for the economy to turn around so that things get easier for all of us. thank you.

some before and after pictures to see how wall, windows, and other internal architectural features turn out. Also to incorporate further photographs from your travels and the ethnographic objects and how they play into the interiors. Some close up (macro) photos of carpets, textures, etc might be interesting. Definitely more pages and photos. Sometimes it is easier to understand the process of design by grouping the projects separately. Critics of course always want to see “real” practical advice thrown in there. I just like your books the way they are with detailed supply lists at the end.

Dear Vicente, since I moved to NYC 1994 I have been following your work. It represents such a wellcome departure from the common traditionalism…
I also have your first 2 books, love them very much. I’d like to read more about your thinking process and how your projects come together for you and your clients.
Yor pictures are faboulous, more any time!

I would like to learn and see more about the process of arranging and mixing old and new home furnishings and lighting. How to achieve a balance of old and modern for an organized, polished, comfortable and sophisticated look. While my interest is addressed in your previous two books, your style is so appealing and fresh that I want even more education and examples on how to achieve this interior style for my home. Also, your artistry helps me move toward organization and de-cluttering both physically and emotionally. Your clean lined, airy and non-fussy rooms inspire a sense of calm and peace that I want to experience in my home. I suspect that many of us need to feel calmness and peacefulness during our current times of outside threats to our well-being and financial security. Drawing on my own creativity and through more lessons from you, I will learn how to successfully put together an eclectic blend of old and new to produce a unique result for my home versus a trendy or matchy-matchy outcome. I would be very interested in seeing jobs from beginning to end, especially how you edit what to keep and toss from the clients existing possessions and how choices are made to add to the mix. Thank you for considering my ideas and bringing another Vincente Wolf book to the market SOON!

In my view, the quality of your interiors exude serenity. Calmness. Lacking nothing. Given the turbulence much of the world is experiencing, I think you may want to share how you achieve this quality of peaceful ‘being’. I think it could be quite inspirational. It seems the places you go and pieces you bring back with you for others to enjoy, often share that same peaceful quality.

I think this is a fabulous idea! It is exactly what someone like me, who can truly appreciate your talent but is unable capture it, would appreciate. I will very much look forward to buying it!!

I would love to read that book and I know that I would learn some very important lessons from the various phases of each project. Hope you are well Vicente!
