Book Three

While I was a away the art director for my new book created a sample chapter which was presented to me last week. And, despite having gone through this process twice before alread, it’s like having the midwife there and delivering the baby!

I was shown different versions of the same chapter and it’s always interesting to see how the art director approached my vision and what I was trying to convey. It gives me such an appreciation of how other venues of creativity work.

It was just such an incredible thrill to see what has taken almost two years of work to start it and see my photographs printed, read my words, see the juxtaposition of photography and copy put together. It is a true thrill and one that tells me that this egg is about to hatch. Cannot wait to share it with you all!

Vicente – I reread “Learning To See” last week in preparation for your new book, and was pleased to see how many of the book’s themes have been pursued in detail in your blog, and so how much nuance I got from the second reading. It occurred to me that “Crossing Boundaries” may have a geographic and design double meaning, and so I’m looking forward to additional discovery there. Good things come in threes, so I’m really looking forward to the third with anticipation.

The text in your first has a nice conversational quality. How did you develop the text in your new book? Did you dictate to a person or recording device, hand write or have you begun word-processing? Do you work with an editor? And have a title for your new book? Advanced congratulations! – Gary

And I cannot wait to take it all in. It’s wonderful how you contributed to all aspects of the book in photos and words as well as the designs you will feature.

If I may ask….do you have any favorite home shops in NYC that are open to non-trade folks like myself?

    Thanks, Jeanette

How exciting to see it all come together! It must be a thrill to know that your vision and ideas will be preserved for generations to come. You have a great mix of media for reaching people with your blog and books. You give people the best of both worlds, current bits of what is going on with you and what is on your mind via the blog as well as something that people read over and over again until it is dog earred (sp?) and almost memorized (through the books). Thank you, thank you, thank you! By the way, will there be any floor plans in your new book? Looking forward to it! Big hug for sharing your talent and for saying what many people are afraid to!
