Ask Vicente: Perfect Bed

Comment:

Vicente, what is your idea of the perfectly paired down bed. Simple luxury. What would use from the sheets up? There are so many choices out there.

Vicente Responds:

I love working with both Anichini and Sferra, they do beautiful linens and have proven to stand the test of time. For me, it’s always white linens. It says “I know when my sheets are dirty and I’m not trying to hide it under brown colors” and I like a beautifully made bed with hospital corners and fluffy pillows. I usually fold the comforter at the foot of the bed – I don’t like to bring it all the way up.

  • I adore Sferra. A luxurious bed is a must. I love to get in and just rejuvenate after a long day!

There is no doubt that both of these companies produce great linens.

Anichini provides very nice product – however the prices are way over the top – too much. One can find equal quality linens elsewhere at a lot less. Sferra – is one of the best values for the money out there – their finishing is great, (almost everything is hem-stitched with mitered corners – their selection is very good and prices competitive.

Both these companies have mostly Italian produced linens – you can’t go wrong with them.

I like there Celeste and Giotto the best

  • PERSONALLY I LIKE ORGANIC LINENS…
THE “PURIST LINE” IN WONDERFUL AND VERY CHIC LOOKING… THERE IS ONE EXCEPTION TO ORGANIC AND THAT IS A LINE “MATTEO” I THINK THEY DO CARRY A STYLE THAT IS ORGANIC…
ANOTHER LINE IS “INDIKA” OUT OF CANADA..

THEY HAVE AMAZING BLOCKED PATTERNS AND COLORS…

ALL OF THESE LINES ARE ALSO EXPENSIVE.. SOME HAVING DUVETS FOR A KING AT $500 OR MORE…

GOOGLE AND SEE IF YOU LIKE THEM…

  • It’s all about options. All these mentioned are indeed great. I recently purchased for a client a wonderful linen top sheet from Society that I used at the foot of the bed over a duvet a sheeting from Restoration Hardware. My client loves this bedding and is very happy. Also, lets not forget that Thomas O’brien has bedding now at Target and you can’t go wrong with anything Thomas O’brien. Personal choices. Personal happiness.

Thanks so much for your response. I have completely overlooked this on your blog.
Not sure I am navigating all of the areas properly.
I check in each day. Love reading all of your thoughts. The reason I ask this is both client based and personally. I have a client who would very much not like to fuss with all of the usual bed coverings. The bells and whistles can all get quite costly . She has had all of the decorative stuff, high end , and is unhappy and put it all in a closet. Very pretty, not very touch friendly though.
I really want to come up with something that is just pure, and simple easy luxury. So maybe putting the $$$ at the sheeting level is where it will bring the most comfort.

  • Oh yes, simple elegance is what you have displayed. The four poster bed can be dressed in romantic ruffle or contemporary modern themes. Fantastic!
