I’m looking for ideas for a wall mounted headboard for a guest room. We will be using twin beds to normally serve as a king and which will, on occassion, be separated to accomodate two singles. Looking for a headboard that will work with both. Prefer non upholstered.
Vicente responds:
I don’t know what style your home is, but Wisteria has some beautiful painted wooden headboards. If not, think of an enormous louver panel that could be mounted onto the wall, or perhaps a wooden beam that could run diagonally above the bed. Another option is to paint a headboard onto the wall – just a block of color above the bed could be very striking. If the width of the room is not that much bigger than the king bed, consider doing whatever you do wall-to-wall so you can separate the beds if you want to and it becomes a continuous headboard.

For my guest bedroom, I have 2 Ikea twins pushed together forming a king bed. Their headboard is an antique Italian screen, deliciously hand painted. When I have 2 guests traveling together in separate beds, I pull the room divider to the side of the room to create a small changing area to give the guests extra privacy.
