<description>Melissa – I think we CAN largely understand art through our emotions. Historically art was for the recording and retelling of stories within given cultures through shared images and symbols when literacy was limited. Today the world is bombarded with images, but without shared culture the artistic ones aren’t always clear. I think the best art bridges that gap. Who is not moved by Dorothea Lange’s black and white photo ”Migrant Mother”? But even abstract images (like vocal music with foreign lyrics) can touch us. There are abstract expressionist paintings that give me the same jolt of spatial pleasure as a great building or interior space does. And I’m put into a sweet reverie any time I hear Mary Black sing “Mo Ghile Mear” though I don’t understand a word of Gaelic. - Gary

<description>I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I DO NOT REALLY GET ART??? A FEW TIMES I&#039;VE BEEN IMPACTED EMOTIONALLY AND THEN I UNDERSTAND, BUT IF THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN THEN I AM LOST.. I DO LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY AND LOVE TO STYLE PHOTO SHOOTS AND TO SEE THE OUTCOME... I LOVE PHOTOJOUNALISTIC STLE AND FASHION ALONG WITH LANDSCAPE... DOES ANY ONE HAVE THAT FEELING OUT THERE TOO THAT THEY OFTEN ARE NOT MOVED BY ART... NOW, GIVE ME A BEAUTIFUL DRESS OR DESIGNED HOUSE THAT&#039;S SOMETHING THAT MOVES ME OFTEN, BUT JUST ART ON A WALL RARELY....
