Georgia O’Keeffe at the Whitney

I’m designing a new collection of tile for a major tile producer and I’ve been trying to gather ideas and inspirations. Among the places I went to for that was the Whitney Museum where there is a really beautiful retrospective on Georgia O’Keefe and her earlier work. It is not the intense color and graphic style that one is accustomed of seeing of her. It’s beautiful, soft coloration and really such romantic paintings, plus a wonderful photograph that her husband, Alfred Stieglitz, took of her. It’s running until January 2010 and a must if you’re in New York.

    Dear Vicente,

Yes, her early works are so different in many ways one can see her progression in life thru her work. Here in Santa Fe she has her own museum! Also, one can take a 60 minute drive to what was her home in Abique, NM and visit where she spent her last 40 years of her life.
One is speechless at the simplicity of her house and the isolation of how she lived. Walking for 30 minutes every morning and evening with her two chows………. Melissa Lee Lamy, NM

Just saw the movie about her life with Stiglitz and later her years in New Mexico. She is fabulous! I’ve seen some of her work there.
    This is a must!

Thank you so much for the video link to the Whitney. I also enjoyed watching the other Whitney video spots—so well done in describing the artists’ works and messages.
